What a GREAT game! Of course it would have even been greater if the Mules had won. I'm not going to play the blame game, there are always more than enough folks willing to do that. Instead, after much careful consideration, I would like to do my "amateur best" to offer a possible solution. RUN THE BALL! Glenn Milner has gotten better every game. MILNER RUSHING STATS Mankato - 62 Concordia - 77 Truman 109 Washburn - 119 Pittsburg State - 218 This team will have a winning season. It's also a young team that will keep fans hoping, whether we turn out to be 6-5 or 9-2; but...what's won games for this team this year is when we simply line up and smash the other team in the mouth. As the season goes on, whether it's a conference doormat or a defending Division II runner-up, the Mules have their best chance at winning when they line up and force the other team to "try" and stop the run. THE FORMULA RUN-RUN-RUN-PASS * RUN-RUN-RUN-PASS * Here's hoping the Mules get some of their starting defenders back this week. In my opinion, this defense is still top notch and will help win a lot of ballgames if the offense can do what they're best at. Have I suggested running the ball yet? Let's be the team next week that wears the other teams defense down. We've done it in all three of our wins this season. I expect Willie Fritz will become the all time winningest coach in Central Missouri history this Saturday in Emporia, Kansas so long as the Mules serve up plenty of "Soup & Salad". Meet you on the High Ground... * NOTE: The PASS (above) may be substituted with another run. * * * * * DISCLAIMER: This "Mules Report" is intended to be humorous and in no way represents any inclination on my part to second guess any paid coaching professionals. That said, my late father always told me that truth is often funnier than fiction. |
