SEPTEMBER
1, 2008 - Senior linebacker Adrian Singletary has been a standout
for the Mules
since he started playing during his freshman year at Central
Missouri. He has received first-team All-MIAA honors, as well as
being named Defensive Player-of-the-Week on several occasions
throughout the last two years. He has also been named to the
MIAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll. He is one of the strongest
Mules, as well as a returning captain and team leader.
When did you start
playing football? What about it made you start?
I started playing football when I was in 3rd grade. I actually
wasn’t a linebacker; I was a defensive end and guard on offense. I
started playing football because my older brother played and I
didn’t want to be left out. Also it is kind of in my family to play.
What was your favorite play or memory of your high school career?
My favorite memory of my high school career would have to be playing
in the Missouri-Kansas All Star Game during my senior year.
What made you decide to come play football for Central?
I
liked the coaching staff at Central. All of the coaches were
invested in the players and that was very important to me. I also
enjoyed the campus, as well as Warrensburg. I live in Kansas City so
it was not too far from home.
What is the best thing about playing at Central?
The best thing is having the opportunity to play in front of a large
crowd every time we hit the field and to represent our school and
our families.
What is your daily schedule like?
A day in the life of Adrian Singletary is pretty laid back I guess.
I wake up and go to class, at 2:15 we have unit meetings, and then
we practice. After that I go home and cook dinner, do my homework,
play some video games and talk to my fiancé before I go to bed. It’s
pretty routine, but that is how it is during the season
What is your
favorite play or memory at Central?
My favorite memory at Central would have to be when we won big
against Pitt St. in 2005. It was crazy! I will never forget that
game and what it felt like to win big!
What gets you fired up before games?
The atmosphere gets me fired up to play a game. I sit back in my
locker and visualize making big plays. I also listen to music to get
me in a different state of mind, a warlike mentality.
What are you looking forward to the most this season? What is
your personal goal for the year, or what would you like to
accomplish?
I am looking forward to finishing my career on a high note at
Central. I want to leave a lasting legacy for future Mules. Mainly I
am excited about playing my last season with all 110 of my brothers.
They are all important to me and all will contribute to a winning
season. A goal of mine this season is to become the premier defender
in the MIAA and bring a conference championship back to Warrensburg.
