During the Sept.
8, 2007 game with Concordia-St. Paul,
Central Sports Radio Network play-by-play man and
MulesCentral columnist Shawn Jones remarked in the 2nd quarter that
the home fans were making lots of noise when QB Eric Czerniewski was
leading the team down the field, but making none when C-SP was
mounting a drive and had just converted a crucial 3rd down with a
near silent stadium.
So, we are
reviving MulesCentral columnist Bill Steinke's creed for being a fan. This was
originally published Sept. 17, 2006 in his weekly column. |

TEN (10) RULES FOR
FOOTBALL FANS TO LIVE BY |
|
1. MAKE NOISE when
the other team has the ball; MAKE EVEN MORE on 3rd down.
2. DON’T MAKE NOISE when we’re on offense from the time the huddle
is formed until the center snaps the ball. Make all you want once
the play is underway or immediately AFTER a good play.
3. Profanity reflects poorly upon you and your team; don’t get
nastier, get louder.
4. If you can’t yell or whistle loudly, bring something loud and
obnoxious from home.
5. Take your hat off for the National Anthem, don’t walk around
while it’s playing, and feel free to sing along.
6. Wear your team’s colors (Cardinal and Black). While cheering is
mostly an exercise in noise, no true fan goes unaware of the visual
aspects of team support.
7. Cheer or don’t cheer, but don’t fault others for doing so (See
rule 9).
8. Standing is part of cheering, get over it! (See rule 8).
9. Don’t spill your drink on anyone except yourself.
10. Learn your school’s alma mater. |
