Even though the Mules went with Eric Czerniewski most of last season, there is a chance he
may not be under center on Aug. 28 when the Mules take on Minnesota State. Nate Taylor, sports
editor of The Muleskinner, addresses the issue in his latest blog. He states that he has talked
to people about who will be the guy, both people on the team, and in the athletic department, and
"the answers are all the same. They don't know yet." Taylor sees it as a battle between the junior,
Czerniewski, and Tommy Corwin, a sophomore. He does not mention transfer David Singleton.
The University of Central Missouri and the Warrensburg community
come together in celebration of a new academic year during the "Get the Red Out" street fair. Activities are
being planned for 4 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, on Holden Street, between South and Clark streets.
The festivities include games for the kids, a concert, UCM merchandise, food and
drinks, and of course, Mules Football! at 7PM!
After beginning preseason workouts,
Central Head Coach Willie Fritz and Associate Athletics Director Shawn Jones
visited with David Lee of KDKD radio in Clinton. Fritz had great things to say
about his wide receivers and the defensive line, calling them the deepest
positions on the team. Fritz is excited about the prospects for CB Randy
Shepherd, LB Adrian Singletary, DE John Wood and WR Tim Richmond.
Central Missouri coach Willie Fritz wasn’t being defensive when it was brought
to his attention about two heart-wrenching, fourth-quarter losses last season.
If the Mules could have found a way to win those games instead of losing 38-31
in double overtime to Pittsburg State and 28-26 to Northwest Missouri, they would
have reached the NCAA Division II playoffs.
